Lynn Gregorski, president of Rapunzel Creative Marketing, has joined the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey as a member at large for a three-year term. This council serves girls ages 5-18 in 160 communities in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties, and brings the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to more than 24,000 girls and nearly 13,000 adult members.
The mission of the Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Its programs prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure in a safe, no-limits place designed for and by girls.
Lynn has a lifelong love of Girl Scouting—she was a Brownie and Girl Scout in elementary school, and her mother was a troop leader—and she values the impact the program has on girls and their leadership development. In fact, she credits Girl Scouts with her ability to break barriers and forge ahead as a female business leader, especially during her early career in television, which at the time was a male-dominated, male-driven industry.
“It was really hard for women to break in, be recognized for their work, and get ahead,” said Lynn. “The lessons and skills I learned through Scouting helped me confront challenges at work and make my voice heard.”
As a woman business owner, Lynn said that the Girl Scouts’ mission to nurture girls to become tomorrow’s leaders is a natural fit for her as a board member today. By joining the board, Lynn hopes to play a part in continuing to expand the impact and reach of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, helping girls open new doors where they can discover, connect, and take action in their local community and beyond.
“I see the value of my Scouting days play out all the time, and I am excited to support the organization’s mission to encourage girls to reach high and follow their dreams.”
An outdoor enthusiast since childhood (she says the overnight camping trips with her troop were her favorite activity), Lynn is also enthusiastic about the outdoor spaces and camp sites maintained by Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. She notes the importance of preserving natural spaces and making them available to the scouts.
Anyone can support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through volunteering or making donations. The majority of monetary donations (which are 100% tax deductible) go directly into programming and activities to help Scouts fulfill their projects and mission.
